Latest company case about Tech Breakthrough | New PTC Ceramic Heating Elements Mass-produced and Launched, Reshaping Thermal Management Industry
Technology

(March 4, 2026, Beijing)Recently, leading Chinese electronic component enterprises, including Huagong Gaoli and Shanghai Parker Thermal Ceramic Co., Ltd., have made remarkable breakthroughs in PTC ceramic heating technology, with their new-generation products achieving mass production and gaining widespread recognition in both domestic and international markets. Highlighted by core advantages such as automatic temperature control, high safety, long service life and high energy efficiency, these PTC ceramic heating elements have been widely applied in new energy vehicles, smart homes, medical equipment and energy storage thermal management, becoming a key driver for the upgrading of the global thermal management industry and the promotion of green energy conservation initiatives.

PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) ceramic heating elements are semiconductor heating devices with automatic temperature adjustment properties. Their core principle lies in the automatic increase of resistance and decrease of power as temperature rises; once the preset temperature is reached, a stable constant temperature is maintained, fundamentally eliminating potential safety hazards such as overheating, dry burning and open flames. Compared with traditional resistance wire heating solutions, these new-generation PTC products boast an energy saving rate of 20%—30% and an extended service life of 3—5 times, making them a more efficient and reliable choice for various application scenarios.

Technological Upgrade: High Voltage, High Stability and Diversified Application Lead the Industry Trend

Since 2025, Chinese enterprises have continuously stepped up R&D efforts to optimize PTC ceramic heating technology, launching a series of innovative achievements that have broken through industry bottlenecks and set new benchmarks for product performance:

  • High-voltage platform adaptation: 1800V high-voltage PTC chips have been mass-produced on a large scale, perfectly meeting the thermal management needs of 800V new energy vehicles. These chips can work stably even under extreme conditions of -40℃ and have passed rigorous international tests, with their safety margin and electromagnetic compatibility performance reaching world-class standards. Huagong Gaoli alone produces 3 million such chips per day, accounting for 60% of the domestic new energy vehicle PTC heater market份额.
  • High-temperature and high-stability innovation: A research team from the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has successfully developed a rare earth niobate high-entropy thermosensitive ceramic material with a brown yttrium niobate structure. This material can be used in a wide temperature range of 223—1423K, with high thermal stability (aging drift rate <1% after 1000 hours) and a high temperature coefficient of resistance, making it suitable for extreme environment applications such as aerospace engine condition monitoring and new energy vehicle thermal management.
  • Miniaturization and low-noise optimization: Enterprises have optimized the design of coolant flow channels and ceramic chip structures, reducing the volume of PTC heaters by 25% while maintaining unchanged power, which effectively meets the installation needs of multi-model vehicles. Meanwhile, the improved chip design has achieved low-noise operation, further expanding its application scope in smart home and medical equipment fields.

Notably, Huagong Gaoli recently secured an order of over 100 million US dollars from a well-known European automaker for full-platform heaters, marking the official entry of Chinese PTC ceramic heating elements into the high-end European market. The company overcame multiple technical challenges, including low-voltage adaptation and multi-model compatibility, to win the trust of international customers with its high-quality products and timely service.

Industry insiders predict that with the continuous advancement of intelligent, miniaturized and eco-friendly trends, the global market for PTC heating elements will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.0% from 2023 to 2029. Chinese enterprises, with their technological accumulation and mass production capacity, are expected to play a more important role in the global industrial chain and promote the sustainable development of the PTC heating industry.
