The temperature measurement distance has been reduced from the traditional 5 - 10mm to the 0.1mm level, and the temperature response delay has decreased from 50ms to within 10ms. In the application of 1200V SiC modules, the temperature measurement error has been narrowed from ±5°C to ±1.5°C, significantly enhancing the precision of automotive semiconductor thermal management. Additionally, the innovative introduction of semiconductor-grade gold wire bonding technology has reduced the device pad pitch to 0.3mm, making it compatible with advanced packaging forms. In vehicle-mounted on-board chargers (OBC), it saves 40% of the mounting area compared to traditional discrete solutions. The product operates within a temperature range of -55°C to 175°C, demonstrating excellent temperature robustness and providing strong support for the performance improvement of automotive powertrain systems.
Meanwhile, Bourns has also launched the BTN02G and BTN04G series of surface-mount NTC thermistors. These two new types of thermistors adopt advanced and highly reliable designs, combining semiconductor ceramics with internal electrodes to enable smooth resistance value changes over a wide temperature range. In addition to the standard ±3% and ±5% high-precision resistance tolerances, ±1% and ±2% resistance tolerance options are also available, with a B-value tolerance of up to ±1% high precision. They provide crucial thermal management solutions for advanced and sensitive electronic devices such as mobile devices, household appliances, and lithium battery modules, meeting the market demand for high-precision temperature sensing and compensation functions.
Regarding the market competition landscape, domestic NTC thermistor enterprises are making active breakthroughs. The Chinese NTC thermistor market has long been dominated by Japanese brands such as TDK and Murata, especially in the automotive-grade and high-precision fields, with a heavy reliance on imports. However, with the advancement of the "domestic substitution" policy and the increased demand for supply chain security, domestic enterprises like Pingshang Technology have achieved remarkable progress. Pingshang Technology has successfully entered the supply chain of leading new energy vehicle companies with its ±0.5% precision technology, IATF 16949 automotive certification, and 100% domestic supply chain. Through nano-scale gradient doping technology, it optimizes the linearity of the resistance-temperature curve, achieving ±0.5% precision across the entire temperature range (-40°C to 300°C), with performance comparable to TDK's NTCG series. In terms of packaging technology, the epoxy resin + ceramic composite packaging can withstand 300°C high temperatures and 50G mechanical shocks, suitable for extreme working conditions. The fully automated packaging production line has a precision deviation of ≤±0.1mm and a yield rate of 99.6%. Moreover, in terms of supply chain autonomy, it has achieved full-chain domestic layout from the material end to the manufacturing end, with obvious cost advantages. The unit price of automotive-grade NTCs is only 65% of TDK's products of the same specification, and the price of industrial-grade products is as low as 50% of Japanese brands, effectively challenging the market monopoly of imported brands.
According to QYResearch, the sales revenue of China's negative temperature coefficient thermistor (NTC thermistor) market in 2024 was substantial. It is expected that the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) will maintain a certain level during 2025 - 2031. With the continuous development of technology, the trends of high precision, high reliability, high response speed, and miniaturization in NTC thermistors are becoming increasingly evident. Their applications in new energy vehicles, consumer electronics, industrial control, and other fields will continue to expand, and the market size is expected to further increase.
